So if mistakes were made, as Attorney General Gonzolez said, then people should be held accountable. According to the emails that were sent, the Attorney General was instrumental in the firings of the seven US Attorneys, so he should step down or be fired.

The worst part of this whole mess is that the firings were for political purposes and not in the interest of justice. All seven US Attorneys even had recent positive reviews, which negate any legitimate performance reasons for the firings. The emails point to political gain brought with the firing of the US Attorneys and hiring political allies without congressional approval.

If the White House can use their power to put political allies in those positions at the justice department then the separation of powers is severely diminished. The White House already has too much power and has not been kept in check until the Democrats have regained control in Congress. People need to be held responsible so we can ensure the freedoms of the citizens and the integrity of our government.
